1. meanwhile = in the mean time在此期間、在同時(shí)

They've arranged to have another meeting in two weeks, and meanwhilethe problem is getting worse and worse!

他們已經(jīng)安排了兩周內(nèi)的另一個(gè)會(huì)議，而在此時(shí)，這個(gè)問(wèn)題越變?cè)皆恪?/p>

The computers should be working again soon.Meanwhile, could everyone get on with some paperwork or something?

計(jì)算機(jī)應(yīng)該很快就好了，在此時(shí)，大家可以先著手進(jìn)行紙本作業(yè)嗎?

meanwhile可放句首，記得要加逗號(hào)哦!

2. presently 現(xiàn)在、目前

Of 200 boats, only 20 are presentlyoperational.

200艘船中，目前只有20艘可用。

Three sites are presently under consideration for the new hotel.

目前這家新飯店的選址有三個(gè)地點(diǎn)在考慮中。

presently習(xí)慣放于be動(dòng)詞或助動(dòng)詞之后。

3. immediately = as soon as 一…就

I'll call you immediatelyI hear anything.

我一有什么消息就給你打電話。

immediately也有馬上的意思，在這里分享的是另一個(gè)用法哦!

4. previously 先前地、以前地

She was previouslyemployed as a tour guide.

她以前受聘當(dāng)導(dǎo)游。

I had posted the card two monthspreviously.

我兩個(gè)月以前就把那張卡片寄出去了。

5. in the past 在過(guò)去

In the past, this sort of work was all done by hand.

在過(guò)去，這種工作完全是人工完成的。

6. subsequently 接著、隨之

In 1982 he was arrested and subsequentlyconvicted on drug trafficking charges.

他在1982年被捕，隨之被定運(yùn)送毒品之罪。

7. eventually 最終

Although she had been ill for a long time, it still came as a shock when sheeventually died.

雖然她已病了好長(zhǎng)時(shí)間，但當(dāng)她最后去世時(shí)，我們?nèi)匀桓械椒浅Ｕ痼@。

語(yǔ)法補(bǔ)充：Eventually 和 finally的不同:

用finally 表達(dá)列表中的最后一個(gè)項(xiàng)目、口述的最后一點(diǎn)或是表達(dá)某事「終于達(dá)成」(有開(kāi)心或松一口氣之意味)。

用eventually表示in the end(在最終)，通常是用于長(zhǎng)時(shí)間、下很多功夫或是遇到很多問(wèn)題的事件。

8. currently 目前

Mr. Cooper is currentlyunavailable. Would you like to leave a message?

Cooper先生目前無(wú)法接聽(tīng)電話，請(qǐng)問(wèn)您要留言嗎?
